Longing for someone to listen

A song I used to know began, “I’ve a longing in my heart . . .” I used to see that longing in my students, when they came into my office. This article reveals such a longing among the Chinese. My song was about a longing for Jesus. Here Chinese folks ascribe to Dr Li the special qualities of kindness and acceptance that we ascribe to Jesus. Yes, there is a longing in every private inner world for something more, for an ear-that will hear the anguish deep within us. I give thanks that that listening Ear is so accessible, so attentive, so accepting, so forgiving. I pray that those deeply wounded souls will begin to speak to Him all that is so deeply pent within, to discover how ready He is to hear and bind up, to go alongside and share the grief and anger and fear. The door is open.
“I’ve a longing in my heart for Jesus. I’ve a longing to see His face. I am weary, O so weary, of traveling here below, and I’m longing in my heart for Him”
